The benefits of Botox at every stage of adulthood

Botox is by far the most popular treatment I provide to my clients. It comes as no surprise to me that the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) reported that more than 7.23 million Americans received Botox treatments in 2017—that’s the highest number ever.

The numbers may not be as high in Canada because of our sparser population, but I can tell you from first-hand experience that an increasing number of Winnipeg women and men (Brotox is becoming very popular!) have discovered what Botox can do for them.

Botox is a cosmetic injectable used to temporarily improve the look of moderate to severe forehead lines, crow’s feet lines, and frown lines. Botox is a neuromodulator composed of a bacteria found in the natural world. A small, precisely injected dose works by temporarily reducing muscle activity. Most people will see results for up to four months after a treatment.

Customized treatments for all stages of life

You have probably heard the buzzword “Baby Botox.” You’ll be relieved to know that it’s not actually for babies; it’s a minimalist treatment favoured by Millennials who may just be developing lines. The idea is to use small doses to prevent wrinkles from forming in the first place. I look at how my clients’ faces move when they’re speaking and smiling and soften the animation through strategically placed micro-doses of Botox to preserve their “baby” faces.”

Baby Botox is also a used by some of my Generation X clients who want to keep their expressions but also want the wrinkles softened to lines. It’s a very natural look that many actors love because it doesn’t eradicate their expressions or create a “frozen” look.

This strategy is what I call a “tweakment.” It’s smaller doses of Botox done more frequently instead of a traditional dose done every four to six months. Another upside to smaller doses is that this treatment strategy is less likely to cause adverse side effects such as drooping eyelids or “spocked” eyebrows. (I will devote a subsequent blog to the measures I take to ensure my clients always get the best Botox solution that’s right for their faces.)

My typical Generation X clients come to see me every four months and get treatments on their crow’s feet, forehead lines, bunny lines, and 11 lines between eyebrows which are also known as the furrow or glabellar region. Because my Generation X clients have embraced Botox and other injectable treatments such as Belkyra, which reduces or eliminates double chins that develop from ageing, they may never need to go under the knife.

Last but not least, Baby Boomers were one of the first generations to get on the Botox bandwagon. You’ve probably heard that 60 is the new 40 and my clients prove it. They go to the gym, they watch their diets, and they get Botox and other injectable treatments so how they feel inside matches what they see on the outside.

For women and men who are considering doing “something” to make them look more refreshed and softer, I often recommend they start with Botox. It's a precise, predictable, and quick treatment that delivers temporary results. Before I treat my clients, I do an in-depth consult so they feel comfortable with the treatment strategy.
