Five cosmetic trends we’ll see in 2019

Happy New Year! You may have some personal resolutions, such as eat better and exercise more, but you may also want to take some new steps in your beauty regimen to start 2019 looking your best.

The good news is that it’s becoming easier to improve your appearance without going under the knife. Cosmetic injectables have evolved so much over the past 15 years—and I have seen dramatic improvements in products and treatment options over the last year. I am pumped up—pun fully intended—about what I see as the top five industry trends in 2019.

1. Tweakments

The days of ducklips and spocked brows are behind us—thank goodness! I have been talking about tweakments for years and now they’ve gone mainstream. Tweakments are subtle corrections, such as softening crow’s feet or filling lip lines, that only you and I will notice. Everyone else will think you’re better rested or you’ve made improvements to your lifestyle. That’s what we want!

Tweakments are all about looking like the best version of yourself, not amping up your lips to Kylie Jenner’s previous proportions (even she has scaled way back on filler) or giving you the frozen look that we used to see on celebs’ faces when they walked the red carpet.

2. Brotox

Men want to look great too. The social stigma surrounding cosmetic procedures is long gone and an increasing number of men want to look as good as their partners or younger colleagues. Over the last year, I have had more men in my chair getting treatments and that number continues to increase as they tell their friends why they look so good. Some of my male clients get the deep lines on their foreheads softened and others ask me to create a more chiselled, masculine look with fillers.

3. Injectables, Injectables, Injectables

Now that injectables have become so sophisticated, it is possible to restore your appearance without going under the knife. Fillers range from products that restore moisture to the face to more viscous products that can replace the loss of volume in cheeks and the chin. When I combine Botox with fillers, we can achieve beautiful results. I predict that injectables will continue to evolve in 2019 in composition and treatment techniques.

4. Prevention

I expect the “Baby Botox” trend to continue in Millennials. My younger clients have started treatments to prevent deep lines and wrinkles from forming. Chances are they will never have to go under the knife if they keep up with preventative treatments.

5. Skin Care

Taking great care of your skin never goes out of style. Protecting your skin from sun damage is your first line of defence against ageing. Having a daily regimen of cleansing, exfoliating and hydrating your skin is also essential. One of my favourite skin care lines is SkinCeuticals because it’s backed by science and it continues to evolve. At your next appointment, let’s talk about your skin care regimen.

I am here to help you put your best face forward. I can’t wait to see what kind of beautiful results we can achieve together in 2019!
