Want to save face? Try hydrating with microinjections

You’re probably already familiar with some of the different types of fillers such as Restylane, JUVÉDERM and Teoxane. These are a few of the big brand names in Canada, but what you may not know is that each brand has a line of products that vary from SkinBoosters to more viscous gels for deep wrinkles.

If you’re considering a filler, you will be comforted to know that hyaluronic acid (HA), the most common filler, occurs naturally in the skin and holds onto water, giving skin a plump, fresh look. As we age, we produce less HA which is why the marketplace has so many options for injectable HA.

If you would like your skin to look dewy and fresh and you don't have concerns about loss of volume in your cheeks or midface, I recommend you try microinjections with HA. Microinjections create microwounds, allowing your skin to absorb the HA and other nutrients more effectively than a topical application of HA products. Some of the benefits include plumper, firmer skin and a reduction in fine lines.

In addition to infusing your skin with HA, the multiple microinjection sites stimulate your skin to produce more collagen. Your skin responds to the microwounds by making new tissue. The combination of HA and the desirable stimulating effect of the microwounds results in glowing, rejuvenated skin that’s hydrated from the inside out.

JUVÉDERM’s Volite is a long-lasting microinjectable treatment. Volite uses a technology that improves the cross-linking efficiency of HA chains. What does that mean for you? It means smooth, natural-looking results that last up to nine months. You will notice that your skin feels and looks more hydrated which diminishes the look of fine lines. Another perk is that the treatment can be done in one session. This treatment would work well on fine lines, necklace lines, hands and the barcode lines above the lip.

Restylane’s Skinboosters treats the same areas JUVÉDERM’s Volite. The treatment has been in Canada since 2017. Leading injectors say that three sessions spaced four weeks apart is the most beneficial, but results vary from patient to patient. For instance, skin that has a cobblestone-type appearance would likely require three sessions; whereas the barcode lines above the lip can be softened with only two sessions. Results last approximately six months.

If you have healthy, dehydrated or ultra-sensitive skin, Teoxane’s Redensity might be right for you. Redensity is a combination of loose-linked HA that has a mixture of vitamins and minerals. The vitamin and mineral mixture differentiates Redensity from the other two microinjection products. This treatment is administered in three sessions, two weeks apart. Results last approximately six months.

HA is truly the foundation of youth and now with these new sophisticated formulations, it gives doctors and nurse injectors the tools they need for beautiful, natural results. Book a consult with me today to discuss how we can put HA to work for you.
